travelling vintage props and styling with kara rosenlund
Clever clever Kara Rosenlund, an Australian editorial and advertising photographer who works more recently as a stylist, buyer and vintage wares retailer, has done up this gorgeous little caravan from which she sells her "objets d'art". Travelling Wares is her quite unique travelling home wares caravan shop, full to the brim with beautiful and practical vintage wares sourced by Kara herself. She travels to markets and other sites with the 1956 Franklin Caravan she calls Frankie, it's just such a shame she's all the way away in Brisbane.
For those of us not in that sunny town, though, Kara does have an online site where you can buy the odd vintage prop for home. She has such a lovely eye and frankly it beats scouring Ebay. But it's her photography I really adore, sophisticated yet far from stuffy, relaxed without being too stylised.
Kara found success within the photography industry in 2003 off the back of being the youngest person to ever win the much acclaimed ‘Canon Australian Institute of Professional Photography ‘AIPP Photographer of the Year’ title. She went on to photograph for some for Australia’s top magazines and she shot and styled some high profile advertising campaigns. Her photos have been included in many exhibitions and acquired in permanent collections, most notably an exhibition at the Sydney Opera House. If you're in Brisbane check her out! She posts where she'll be, when travelling, on her blog.
